The Group of Philosophy offers Ph.D. programme of Research in Modern Western Philosophy ( it includes Rationalism of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibnitz, Empiricism of Locke, Barkely, Hume, Schopenhuer, Neitzsche, Neo-Marxism of Lukaces; Critical Theory of Adorno, Horkheimer, Marcuse, Habermas;Structuralism of Foucault; Deconstruction of Derrida; Logical Atomism of Russell, Wittgenstein, Logical Positivism of A.J.Ayer and the philosophies of Ryle, Moore, Heidegger, Satre, and so on ).

Besides the centre offers 4 optional courses on Western Philosophy, 4 optional courses on Indian Philosophy for Undergraduate students of SLL&CS.
