Jawaharlal Nehru University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education" with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems: Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting across Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.

Invited Application for Senior Research Fellowship(SRF)

Project : "Molecular Identification and Characterization of virulence factors of tomato leaf curl virus".

Duration: The Project will continue till January, 2014. The above mentioned position is completely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. GUEST LECTURER TO TEACH DUTCH

The Centre of German Studies invited applications for the position of guest lecturer to teach Dutch as a foreign language and the literature and culture of the Low Countries from August 2013.

The School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, of which the Centre of German Studies is a part, is one of the largest Schools in the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (www.jnu.ac.in).

The Centre of German Studies began its teaching and research programme in 1971 (http://www.jnu.ac.in/SLLCS/CGS/). With a view to expanding its academic profile the Centre is planning on introducing the teaching of Dutch as a foreign language as an optional course to undergraduate students of the School. This course will comprise 4 hours of teaching per week. In addition, there will be an M.A. optional course to be conducted in English on the literature and culture of the Low Countries, which will also be open to all students of the University and which will also be taught 4 hours per week. In order to popularise the learning of Dutch as a foreign language, the Centre wishes to also introduce at a later stage the 6-hours per week Certificate Course in Dutch Language.

Project: "Lipidomics of human pathogenic multidrug resistant Candida: identification of lipids as antifungal targets". Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT)

Essential Qualifications

M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry with at least two years experience in Membrane Biology. Because of the limited duration of project, the preference will only be given to applicants who are well versed in handling yeast cells and acquainted with lipid extraction, lipid analysis and techniques such as TLC, GC, GCMS and ESI-MS/MS for lipidomics. Knowledge of statistical programs required to analyze large lipidomic datasets is an additional plus. Additionally experience in lipidomics as evident from publication (s) in peer reviewed journal is necessary.

Project: Combating MDR in pathogenic yeast Candida albicans". Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT)

Essential Qualifications

M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry with at least two years experience in Membrane Biology. Preference will be given to applicants who are well versed in handling yeast cells and acquainted with lipid extraction, yeast lipid analysis using TLC and GCMS approaches. Previous knowledge of handling yeast mutant collections is desirable. Additionally experience in lipidomics and other related areas as evident from publication (s) in peer reviewed journal is necessary.

Senior Research Fellow (One)

Project: "Mutational Analysis of a Multidrug ABC Transporter to Dissect Mechanism of Drug Efflux". Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT)

Essential Qualifications

M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry with at least three years experience in Membrane Biology. Preference will be given to applicants who are well versed in handling yeast cells and acquainted with strategies of mutational analysis, cell membrane preparation, FACS, confocal microscopy and Western analysis. Knowledge of mutational analysis of yeast cells as evident from publication in peer reviewed journal.

Salary : - Rs. 14,000/- + HRA

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 2 positions

Essential Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Geography/ Sociology/Economics/ MSW (with agriculture)/ Environmental Sciences (with agriculture)/ Rural or Agricultural Management or any other related fields.

Desirable Qualifications: Socio – Economic data handling/GIS/Remote Sensing experience; Strong desire and capability to work as a team member in the field based study on rural development.

Fellowship: Rs. 12000 + 30 % HRA

2. Project Coordinator

Essential Qualifications: Graduate in Engineering or Post graduate in science

Desirable Qualifications: MBA or PhD / Over twenty years in project formulation, Implementation, coordination, etc.

Honorarium: Rs. 15000 / month (fixed)
