Welcome

It is our pleasure to invite all of you, who work in topics related to yeast membrane transport and energetics, to attend the 28th SMYTE http://www.jnu.ac.in/Conference/SMYTE28/ to be held in New Delhi from September 23-26, 2010. Young scientists are particularly encouraged to present their results. The meeting will be structured to stimulate interaction and discussion on the most recent achievements. We hope you will be able to join us and enjoy both an exciting meeting and the beauty of this ancient and exciting country.

The SMYTE meetings have been held since 1983 (previous SMYTEs). They are cozy meetings with convivial atmosphere that bring together researchers and students from all around the world to discuss results focusing on membrane transport, energetics, environmental sensing and related pathways in yeasts. They are organized at an attractive price to stimulate participation by young researchers from all over the world. Traditionally, SMYTE is structured to stimulate interaction and discussion on the most recent achievements in the area of yeast transporters but keeping in view the growing importance of MDR transporters of cancer cells, it has been decided to have a complete dedicated session on Cancer & Yeast Cells Transporters and Energetics.

The meeting sessions will cover a variety of topics, including:

Structure, function, trafficking, energetics  and regulation
of  yeast transporters

Environmental sensing and signalling

Metabolic and energy regulation

Stress responses and transport

Multidrug transporters of  yeast and  cancer cells
