    About Delhi

New Delhi is a palimpsest, bearing the complexities, the contradictions (contrasts), the beauty and the dynamism of a city where the past coexists with the present. The city measures 1485 sq. km, harbouring over 12 million people of diverse cultures. Delhi abounds in relics, historical monuments and retains a glorious reminder of its past. Delhi, the capital city of Indraprastha, was founded in 1450 B.C by the Pandavas. It has ever since, witnessed the rise and fall of various empires absorbing in itself a bounty of diverse cultures. Having gone through the vicissitudes of history over centuries, this became the seat of governance under the British rule in 1911, when the foundation of the city of New Delhi was laid, in proximity to Old Delhi. Two beautiful monuments, the “Qutub Minar” and the “Humayun Tomb”, have been declared world heritage sites. Apart from these there are other places of tourist interest like the “Red Fort”, “India Gate”, “Rajghat” and many more. Delhi is a green, bubbling effulgent city and exploring the City can be a fascinating and rewarding experience.
