Experience

As a free-lance director, dramaturge, writer for almost twenty five years between 1987-2012. I had an opportunity to engage in a series of interventions in the educational, activist, performance and fine arts sectors in different parts of India as well as in the Philippines, South Africa, Brazil, the United States and the Netherlands. I directed many plays at the grassroots cultural organization Ninasam in the village of Heggodu, Karnataka, where I also conducted a workshop on ‘Land and Memory’ with the Siddi community of African descent. In Durban, South Africa, I participated in two chapters of a public art project called Tangencya on the politics of touch. More recently, I worked as a project director of the Arna-Jharna Museum of the Desert in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, devoted to the study of traditional knowledge. I was also the Festival Director for two seasons at the Inter-Asia Ramayana Festival at the theatre laboratory of Adishakti, Pondicherry. For many years, I was an Advisor for the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development in the Netherlands, which enabled me to network different international projects and initiatives.
