Fellowships

JNIAS awards long term (two months to one year) fellowships to eminent scholars working in thrust areas mentioned above. These are to be scholars, activists or creative people from various parts of the world who are working on such themes and would like to be located in JNU. These fellowships can be used to complete or considerably take forward ongoing projects.

In special cases, JNIAS awards short term (less than two months) fellowships for scholars whose presence in campus for even a short period would be of great value to the community.

JNIAS organises workshops, seminars/and distinguished lectures on themes around the focus areas of JNIAS. Often these events are organised in collaboration with the existing fellows at the JNIAS.

All fellows of the JNIAS are expected to participate in the activities of the JNIAS.

The JNIAS fellows are also expected to interact with faculty and students of JNU through formal or informal lectures/seminars and/or by conducting workshops. Fellows may, if invited teach part or full courses in the various Centres of the university. The fellows, of course, are left with ample time to pursue their own research interests.
The Institute offers free fully furnished accommodation in studio apartments comfortable for two, located at the Institute and shared office space. (The apartments have broadband internet connectivity.) The JNIAS also pays travel costs and a monthly stipend where necessary.
