To
Prof. R. Kumar
Rector II
Jawaharlal Nehru
University
Subject: Faculty Club Building with Facilities under 11th
Plan.
Dear Sir,
Please refer to our earlier
request dated 10/10/2005 and subsequent discussions with you on the above-
mentioned subject. As you are aware, JNUFC conducts cultural, recreational and
sports activities for the faculty and their children. In most state and central
universities, there is a separate place and infrastructure for faculty club
activities. Unfortunately, JNU is way behind in this crucial aspect of community
life on the campus and till date there is no proper place where faculty club can
conduct its activities in an effective and efficient manner. It is, therefore,
requested that proper space and infrastructure may please be provided to the
faculty club for the following:
-
Office- 1 room,
-
Music & Dance- 2 halls with a sitting capacity of 50
people
-
Indoor Badminton and TT courts (like indoor badminton
court in Students Activity Centre)
-
Cafeteria with dining Hall
-
Swimming Pool
-
Gymnasium with equipment
-
Library for children
-
Children’s park with play equipment
A Faculty Club House maybe seen
as an essential professional requirement also, rather than a space for
recreational use. The faculty in the university has to rely on other places to
entertain professional colleagues; as such a environment does not exist on
Campus. It is important for faculty to have an equivalent place to forge
collaborations. A club – by definition, of closed membership – will be able to
get a license to run an establishment that can provide these facilities.
Therefore, the JNUFC would request the university to forward this proposal as
part of larger 11th Plan.
Thanking you,
Yours Sincerely,
