The Council of the Russian Association for
Solidarity and Cooperation with the Peoples of Asia and Africa has decorated
Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar Rector, JNU with its Golden Jubilee Medal for promoting
and strengthening Indo-Russian friendship, literary and cultural ties between
the two countries. This honour was conferred on Prof. Kumar by H.E. V.I.
Trubnikov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India on June 12, 2007 in
New Delhi.

P. Lama, Centre for South, Central Southeast Asian and Southwest Pacific
Studies, School of International Studies has been appointed as the first
Vice-Chancellor of the Sikkim University.
Dr. Khwaja. M.
Ekramuddin, Assistant Professor in the Centre for Indian Languages, School of
Language, Literature and Culture Studies has received the prestigious literary
award from Delhi Urdu Academy in March 2007 i.e. Delhi Urdu Academy Award for
his book published in 2006 “Ta’aruf-o-Tanqeed”. This book is largely based on
different aspects of modern literary challenges faced by Urdu language and
literature like cyber space, multi-media and Urdu language.
Dr.
Satyabrata Patnaik, School of Physical Sciences has been awarded the Young
Achiever Award for the Year 2006 by Department of Atomic Energy (Solid State
Physics Division) for his outstanding contribution in the field of Solid State
Physics.
Prof. Chaman
Lal, Centre of Indian Languages, School of Language, Literature & Culture
Studies has been selected for year 2007’s “SHIKSHA RATTAN PURASKAR” by India
International Friendship Society. New Delhi.
Mr. Dinoj Kumar Upadhyay, Reasearch Scholar of JNU has won 2007 Taiwan Joins the
WHO Essay Contest’ organized by portal sarkaritel.com in partnership of Taipei
Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in New Delhi.
