Summer Trek -2007 : Rupin Pass (Himachal Pradesh)

The JNU
Mountaineering Club conducted the Summer Trek for the year 2007 from 27 May- 8
June, 2007 to Rupin Pass in Uttarkashi Shimla -Kinnaur region of Himachal
Pradesh and Uttarakhanad. The trek started from Netwar ( 1401 metres above sea
level) in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, and passed
through the picturesque valley of Rupin River Pass. The trek passed through
Dhaula, Doni, Sewa, Jiskun and Jakha villages and crossed Rupin Pass (4623 mt)
on 5 June. The descent was through Sangla Kanda, and finished at Sangla. Total
distance of the trek was approximately 65 Km. Fifteen students from different
Centres and Schools of JNU participated and successfully completed the trek.

Certificate
Course in Yoga Education

JNU Yoga Kendra
organized the seventh six weeks Certificate Course in Yoga Education from 15 May
-30 June, 2007 at JNU Sports Office. The course was successfully completed by 22
participants. This course is conducted every year during the months of May/June.
The course was formally inaugurated on 15 May, 2007. The classes were held on
all working days from 7.00 am to
12.00 Noon. The course content included both
practical as well as theory sessions conducted by Sh. Umesh Babu (In charge Yoga Kendra) and by
Sh. Ajay Shastri (Yoga Teacher). Guest Lecturers
from University of Delhi and Central Council
for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) also delivered lectures. A
continuous and comprehensive evaluation of the participants was done in both
theory and practice. Certificates to
successful participants and a special prize to the topper of the course, Sh.
Muktanand Agarwal of the Centre for Sanskrit Studies, JNU were given by Ms.
Damayanti Tambay (Deputy Director, Physical Education) in a well attended
valedictory ceremony held on 10 July 2007.
