Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar,  Rector, JNU has been honoured  by the Russian  President Vladimir Putin who decorated him with the prestigious Pushkin Medal, named after the world famous 19^th Century Russian Poet Alexander Sergeivich Pushkin, for his distinguished contributions in promoting Russian language and culture in India.

Sh. P. Sainath, Rural Affairs Editor, The Hindu, and Member, JNU Court and Executive Council, has been awarded the “2007 Ramon Magsaysay Award”, widely regarded as Asia’s equivalent of the  Nobel prize, for his contributions to journalism, literature and creative communication arts.

Pratap C. Mohanty, Research Scholar, Centre  for Economic Studies and Planning,  School of Social Sciences, was selected to attend an International seminar in Singapore Economic Review Conference (SERC) 2007 for presenting a paper entitled ”Environmental Concerns and Poverty Alleviation in India : The Role of Non-market Institutions”.

Shakti Prasad Srichandan, Research Scholar, Centre for European Studies, School of International Studies, represented India at the 11^th DGAP International Summer School on the theme of  “Comprehensive Challenges, Comprehensive Responses: Linking Security with Development” which took place in Berlin in July 2007.
