Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, Centre for the Study of School of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences and Chairperson, University Grants Commission, has been conferred the award of Padma Shri for his contributions in the field of Literature and Education, on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2008.

Prof. T.K. Oommen, CSSS, School of Social Sciences, has been conferred the Padma Bhushan for his contributions in the field of Literature and Education, on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2008.

Prof. Asis Datta, Director, National Institute for Plant Genome Research, has been conferred the Padma Bhushan for his contribution in the field of Science and Engineering, on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2008.

Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Centre for International Politics, Organisation & Disarmament, School of International Studies, and Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, has been conferred the Padma Shri in the field of Literature and Education, on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2008.

Prof. Harish Narang, Centre for English Studies, School Language, Literature & Culture Studies, has been elected to the General Council of Sahithya Akademy, New Delhi.

Prof. Kapil Kapoor, Centre for English Studies, School Language, Literature & Culture Studies, has been selected as UGC’s Emeritus Fellow at the Centre for English Studies.

Prof. Santosh K. Sareen, Centre for English Studies, School Language, Literature and Culture Studies has been presented Australia-India Council’s Special Award for his contribution to Australian Studies and Australia-India relations.

Dr. S. Chandrasekaran, Coordinator (Eval.) has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, (Deemed University), Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. 

Dr. Suman Kumar Dhar, Special Centre for Molecular Medicine has been awarded the prestging Alexander Von Humboldt Research Fellowship by Humboldt Foundation, Germany.

Dr. Dhar has also been elected as a member of the prestigious Guha Research Conference (2007), GRC is a forum for distinguished Life Scientists in India.

Dr. Sneh Lata Bhadoriya, School of Life Science has been awarded the Innovative Young Biotechnologists Award for the year 2007 by the Department of Biotechnology to recognise her outstanding contributions and innovative approach in Biotechnology.

Sh. Deepak Arya, Section Officer, Academic Branch has been appointed as Civil Judge (Junior Division) in the Uttarakhand Judicial Services.

 Ms. Huidrom Renuka, Research Scholar, Centre for the East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, has been awarded the “Korean Foundation Fellowship” for the year 2007.

Ms. K.H. Roopa, Research Scholar, Centre for Japanese, Korean and North East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, has been awarded the “Korean Foundation Fellowship” at Graduate (Master’s level) for the year 2007 on the basis of highest FGPA at the end of B.A. in Korean Language.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Research Scholar, Centre for Japanese, Korean and North East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, has been awarded the “Korean Foundation Fellowship” at undergraduate level for the year 2007.

Ms. Deepshikha, Research Scholar, Centre for Japanese, Korean and North East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, has been awarded the “Korean Foundation Fellowship” at undergraduate level for the year 2007.

Ms. Nidhi, Research Scholar, School of Life Sciences, has been awarded the “Prof. Gouri Shankar Singhal Merit Scholarship” for the academic year 2007.

Ms. Samriddha Sarkar, Research Scholar, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences, has been awarded the “Dr. A.M. Bhatt Memorial Cash Prize” for the year 2007-2008.
