Mr. Meen Bahadur, an office attendant in the Centre for French & Francophone Studies, SLL&CS, helped to apprehend two students from outside JNU who had stolen Dr. Vyjayanti Raghavan's bag from her office room in SLL&CS on 14th March 2012. The culprits had taken her credit card, along with other belongings, and used it to shop at Lajpat Nagar for nearly Rs. 10,000/-. They visited SLL&CS again about 2 weeks later for a second try after their first successful attempt. It was because of Meen's extreme presence of mind and vigilance that the culprits were identified, on the basis of the CCTV footage that he and others had seen of them, nabbed and handed over to the JNU Security and subsequently to the police. Meen was truly instrumental in preventing further thefts as the culprits were attempting to open other rooms on their second visit.
Meen Bahadur's presence of mind and initiative are deeply appreciated by the JNU Community.
