Prof. H.B. Bohidar obtained
his Ph.D. in the area of laser Spectroscopy in 1982 at Delhi IIT. He pursued
post-doctoral research in France from 1983-85 in a CNRS laboratory situated in
Grenoble. From 1985-1988, he worked at the Institute of Physics, Oslo, Norway as
a visiting scientist. He joined the School of Physical Sciences as an Associate
Professor in 1989 and became Professor in 1998. He was a senior visiting
scientist at Purdue University, USA from 1999-2000. He has more than 90
publications in international peer reviewed research journals and has edited two
books, one of which was published by the American Chemical Society in Washington, DC, USA. His current research interests include polymers and
biophysics, bionano-materials and composites.
Prof. Bohidar has wide administrative experience
within JNU. He was a warden from 1990-1999. Academic Council member from 1994-96
and 2003-05, Proctor from 2002-04, Dean, School of Physical Sciences from
2003-05, and Executive Council member from 2004-05. He has served on the
Academic Committees of various research institutes affiliated to JNU, and also
as a member of the Special Committees of several Science Schools and Centres. New
faculty Dr.
Ranjana Banerjee joined the Centre of Russian Studies, Dr. Mujeebur
Rahman the Centre of Arabic and African Studies, School of Language,
Literature Culture Studies and Dr. Ajay Kumar, Group of Adult Education,
School of Social Sciences as Associate Professors.
Dr. Meenu Bhatnagar joined the Centre of
Russian Studies; Ms. Rebekah Adeline, the Centre of German Studies and
Dr. Ram, Centre of Indian Language, School of Language, Literature & Culture
Studies as Assistant Professors.

Our colleagues, Prof. V. Rajamani, School

Sciences; Prof. P.C. Saxena, School of Computer & Systems Sciences; and
Dr. Asha Maheshwari, Research Scientist, School of Social Sciences have
retired after long and distinguished careers at the University.
In administration, Sh. O.P. Khera,
Administrative Officer; Sh. H.S. Tomar, Horticulture Officer; Sh. O.P. Gupta
Sanitary Inspector and Sh. M.C. Joshi, Supervisor have retired from the services
of the University.
In other news, Sh. Sohan Lal, Driver; Sh.
Suresh Kumar, Plumber and Sh. Radha Raman Mandal, Head Helper Mess have also
retired from the services of the University.
Resigned
Dr. Ram Singh, Associate Professor, Centre
for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences resigned from his
post.
Administration
In the administration, Dr. Bharat Bhushan has been
appointed Horticulture Officer, Sh. Rajesh Kumar as Junior Engineer (Electrical)
and Sh. Pawan Kumar & Sh. Jagtap Ganesh Raosaheb as Stenographers.
