Yoga camp “Management of Lifestyles Disorder”
JNU Yoga Kendra
organised a three day camp on the Management of Lifestyle Disorders from 14 16
November 2007 at Yoga Kendra, Sports Complex. The camp was attended by 28
participants that included students, staff, faculty and their dependants. Yoga
teachers, Sh. Umesh Babu and Sh. Ajay Shastri, taught exercises and educated the
participants about the lifestyle disorders and the simple tricks and
modifications for the management of blood pressure, stress, sleeping disorders.

Book Release
Information
and Broadcasting Minister Sh. Priya Ranjan Dasmunsshi released a book based on
documents of Bhagat Singh, edited by Professor Chaman Lal, Shaheed Bhagat
Singh: Sastavejon ke Aaine mein (Martyr Bhagat Singh: In the mirror of
documents), contains, 107 documents written by Bhagat Singh, which include
letters, court statements and essays, apart from his Jail Notebook. This is the
most updated collection of writings of Bhagat Singh. Copies of the book were
presented to Kiranjit Singh and Abhay Sandhu, both nephews of the great martyr.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Munshi emphasized to highlight the role of
revolutionary martyrs in the freedom struggle. Sh. Kuldeep Nayar, veteran
journalist, said that Bhagat Singh fought for social transformation of Indian
society. Prof. Chaman Lal, editor of the book, said that it was long overdue to
recognize Bhagat Singh as an intellectual giant of the national movement, like
Nehru, Subhash, Periyar, Ambedkar and Maulana Azad. He also underlined the need
to translate these books into all Indian languages, including Punjabi in the
Persian script for the benefit of Pakistan people who also hold Bhagat Singh in
high esteem.

Women Sports Carnival
The first ever all
“Women Sports Carnival - JUST FOR WOMEN” was held in the JNU on 18
November 2007. Different types of fun games were held for the women/girls in
different age categories. A total of 33 participants from JNU community very
enthusiastically participated in the games of Dodge ball, Hop race, 100 mtr.
race, Tug of War, Musical Chair, Leg Cricket, 400 mtr. Walk race, Three Leg race
and Basket Ball throw events. The prizes and gifts to the winners were given
away by the guests of honour, Mrs. S. Bhattacharya and Mrs. Kumar.
