General rules
- Only registered members are allowed to use the Library. Members should always carry their ID cards while using the Library.
- Readers should observe strict silence inside the Library.
- Use of Mobile phones is not permitted inside the Library Building.
- Readers’ tickets are non-transferable.
- Readers/ Borrowers must ensure that the books are in proper conditions before borrowing.
- Members are responsible for books issued against their tickets.
- Readers are not allowed to bring their personal books or any printed material inside the Library.
- Personal belongings like bags, umbrellas, etc. should be deposited at the Property Counter.
- Readers are advised not to leave their valuable items like money, passport, credit card etc. at the Property Counter.
- Readers should not carry books from one floor to another and should leave the books on the reading table after consulting.
- Readers should not mark, scratch, damage, books or furniture of the Library in any way
- Internet connectivity will not be provided on Laptop brought inside the Library. The library shall not be responsible for any loss or damage of the personal belongings of the users.
Circulation rules
- Books are normally issued for a fortnight except textbooks which are issued for overnight use only.
- Text books with extremely limited number of copies cannot be issued.
- Students can reserve books at the circulation counter in case they are already issued.
- Reference books, theses and dissertations and periodicals/bound journals are not issued.
- Dissertations/Theses are to be consulted within the library premises only.
- Dissertations submitted within last five years are given for consultation within the Library only. Written permission of the Chairperson of the Centre concerned is required in such cases.
- Dissertations/Theses can not be photocopied.
- Library reserves to recall any issued book even before the due date.
Overdue charges
- Issued books returned after due date attract overdue charges. For general books, the overdue charges range from 50 paisa per day to the cost of the book and for textbooks Rs.5/- per day to the cost of the book.
- For loss of library tickets, users have to pay Rs. 5/- per ticket in the conscience box and for loss of bar-coded library membership ID card they have to deposit Rs. 50/- with the University.
Cyber Library rules
- Cyber Library is to be used for academic purposes only.
- Online Chatting in the Cyber Library is not allowed.
- Browsing of dating, social networking sites is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
- Users are not allowed to carry eatables and drinks in the Cyber Library area.
- Readers must carry their Library ID card while using the Cyber Library. They must show their ID card on demand.
- Readers are not to share their net access ID and Password with other students.
- Changing the settings and display of the Computers kept in the Cyber Library/Reading Hall is not permitted.
- Playing games on computers is strictly prohibited in the entire Library premises.
- Students should take care of their Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, Cell Phones, and Wallets etc.
In case of any difficulty, Readers must contact the respective Section Head.
