The library catalogue (Web OPAC) is available at your desktop 24x7. It is an electronic library catalogue which contains records of all the books, periodicals, theses, dissertations and other reading materials held by the Library. The Library Catalogue offers the following information:

  • Location of the document
  • Status of the document-whether it is issued out or not

It offers the following search options:

  • Quick Search,
  • Browse Search,
  • Advanced Search and
  • External Database Search.

OPAC provides the following services:

  • Search by a specific author
  • Search by specific keyword/subject
  • Search by specific title
  • Search by Call number
  • Search by Publisher
  • Search by ISBN/ISSN
  • Display where material is located in the Library

Searching options
Basic Search

  • You may use a browse search if you know the author, call number or subject headings.
  • You may select the search type from the drop down menu; choose author, title, subject, publisher, call number or journal title.
  • Type the details in to the search box.
  • Choose the database you want to search
    •  JNU
    • Newspaper clippings
  • Click on the search button to perform the search.
  • The hits that match your search query will be displayed on the screen.
  • You may select any record which you require from the list displayed.
  • OPAC will show the item’s location, status and call number.

Advance Search/Keyword Search
The Keyword search offers three searching options

  1. You may select the search type from the drop down menu. You may choose to search via title, author, subject etc.
  2. Enter keywords in to the search box.
  3. Choose the database you want to search
    • JNU
    • Newspaper clippings

 You can click on the following link to find out if a particular e- journal is subscribed by the Library.
