Tulsiram
Prof Tulsiram holds a Ph.D degree from the School of International Studies, JNU. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Moscow and St. Petersburg. He is a prominent critic on Indian Literature and Buddhism. He is currently working on Trans-Caucasia and Buddhism in Russia.

Ajay Kumar Patnaik
Prof. Ajay Kumar Patnaik, the former chairperson, CRCAS. Holds a doctor's degree from School of International Studies, JNU. He was a Visiting Scholar (1992-1993) at the faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cambridge, UK and ICSSR Exchange fellow in 1999 to Institute of Ethnography, Moscow. He is the Executive Editor of the journal Contemporary Central Asia. His research interests are Stability and Security in the Caspian region.

Anuradha M. Chenoy
Prof. Anuradha Chenoy, a Ph.D from School of International Studies, JNU. She is the Director of Area Studies- CRCAS. She was the former Chairperson of the Centre. She was the recipient of the ICSSR fellowship for her M.Phil and Fulbright fellowship to work in Columbia University, New York. She is also an activist on gender and social issues. She has been on the governing bodies of several institutions like the Indian Social Institute, Centre for Educations and Communications, New Delhi. Her research interests are security issues and gender.  

Arun Mohanty
Prof. Arun Mohanty, has a Ph.D degree from Academy of Science USSR. Taught at Moscow State University, Moscow. Member of Russian Academy of Social Sciences. Published 6 books and co-authored several books with Russian Scholars. He has written scores of articles on developments in Russia and other CIS countries during his more than two decades stay at Moscow.

Tahir Asghar
Dr. Tahir Ashgar, Associate Professor, CRCAS, has his Masters in Economics and doctorate from Leningrad Institute of Finance and Economics, Leningrad, USSR. He is engaged in research and teaching on economic and environment issues and problems in Russia and Central Asia.

Sanjay Kumar Pandey
Prof. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, is the Chairperson of the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies, SIS, JNU. He is a Doctorate from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. His areas of interest include Foreign Policy of Russia and the Central Asia States, and the Political system and processes in Russia and India. Currently working on a UGC project on "Asymmetrical Federalism in India: A comparative Perspective".

Archana Upadhyaya
Dr Archana Upadhyay, Associate Professor in CRCAS, has a Masters in Political Science and a Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her area of research interest are- international relations with special focus on South Asian, Central Asian and Russian issues, Political Violence, Insurgency and Terrorism, Conflict and Conflict Management.
She has been the recipient of the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship (2003-2004) with affiliation to International Policy Institute, King's College, London.


Phool Badan
Dr. Phool Badan, Assistant Professor, CRCAS, has done his Masters in Politics (International Studies) and Doctorate from SIS, JNU. His areas of interest are society, culture, government and politics including foreign policy of Central Asian States. He has participated in various national and international conferences and delivered lectures at the Tashkent Institute of Oriental Studies. Currently working on a project entitled "Resurgence of Islam in Central Asia" sanctioned by ICSSR.

Preeti Das
Dr. Preeti Das is an Assistant Professor in CRCAS. She has Masters from Simferopol State University, Simferopol, former USSR and Doctorate from SLL&CS, JNU. She also has a Diploma in International Relations & External Polices of former USSR. She is the zonal representative of INDAPRYAL. Currently working on a UGC project entitled "Educational Reforms Challenges and Opportunities". Her research interests are Culture, history & literature of Russian society and mass media.  

K. B. Usha
K. B Usha is an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies. She holds her M.A Degree in Politics and International Relations from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, and MPhil and PhD (Soviet/Russian Studies) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her research experience includes works on Political Empowerment of Women: A Critical Study of Indian Experience and Women and Democratic Transition in Central Asia: A Human Security Perspective (two projects pursued as Research Associate in Dept. of Political Science, Kerala University and in CRCAS, JNU). She published her first book titled A Wounded Afghanistan: Communism, Fundamentalism and Democracy in 2004. At present she is working on her forthcoming book titled Bitter Emancipation: Women in Soviet/Russian Politics. Her other research interests are in the area of globalization, identity and cultural politics, gender, ethnicity, international politics, social theory, terrorism, conflict and security. She teaches courses on International Communism, Trans-Caucasia and Baltic States.  

Nalin Mohapatra
Dr. Nalin Kumar Mohapatra is working as an Assistant Professor in Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies. He has done his Ph.D from Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies (formerly Centre for Russian, Central Asian and East European Studies), School of International Studies, JNU. Dr. Mohapatra has also worked as a Project Fellow in Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata. His areas of interest include democratisation, ethnic conflict, regional security and geo-politics of Central Asia and Caspian Region. Currently he is working on "Regional Security, Energy Politics and Democratic process in the Caspian Region". He is also Associate Editor of tri-annual journal Contemporary Central Asia, published by Central Asian Studies Foundation, New Delhi, India. His major publications are, Political Culture and Democratic Development in Central Asia, Bookwell, New Delhi, 2006; "Ethno-Religious Conflict in a Multi-Cultural Society: A Study of China's North West Frontier Province of Xinjiang"– Azad Institute Paper 25.

Rajan Kumar
Dr Rajan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the CRCAS, SIS. He has done his B.A. Honours in History from Ramjas College, Delhi University and Masters and Ph.D from the School of International Studies, JNU. After that he did six courses on research methods and international conflicts from University of Kentucky, USA. He also taught two courses on American Politics and Culture and Politics in University of Kentucky as a Teaching Assistant. His research interests are- ethnic conflicts and nationalism, conflict theories, international relations theories, democracy and comparative research methods.

Ms. Arti Basu is a research associate in the Centre.

Dr. Bishwanath Thakur is the documentation officer of the Centre. He is also in charge of the library of the Centre.

M.M Handa
is the PA of the Chairperson. He is in-charge of day-to-day administration and management in the Centre. A person with more than 25 years of experience, he knows every pillar and post of the university.

Mr. Vijay is an Assistant in the Centre. He is the key person for students as well as faculties. A virtual lynchpin of the Centre.
