Participated in a research project on "The Indian Armed Violence Assessment" organized by the Small Arms Survey, Geneva. Researched and reported on Indian cinema’s response to terrorism and violence in Kashmir. The first phase of the project concluded in September 2011.
International Collaboration with Prof. Richard Allen of New York University on a project on "Muslim Cultures of Bombay cinema" that was undertaken for New York University’s Abu Dhabi Institute that resulted in a Film Festival in Abu Dhabi – Feb-March 2009, a conference on the subject, and a book Islamicate Cultures of Bombay Cinema, March 2009. The Film Festival also travelled to New York City and was held at the Lincoln Centre, April-May 2010
International Collaboration with Prof. Christine Gledhill, University of Sunderland, UK on a British Academy grant for a project on "Melodrama and Indian Cinema: Dialogues on the Trans-nationality of a Cinematic Aesthetic," Jan- June 2008. The report was submitted to the British Academy, and a paper on "Melodrama Dialogues," for the Panel on "Migratory Melodrama: The Case of Indian Cinema," was presented by Prof. Gledhill at the Conference of the Association of Asian Studies Chicago, 26-28 March, 2009
Consultant for a project on 75 Years of Hindi Sound Cinema and also Curatorial Consultant for an Exhibition on 75 Years of Hindi Sound Cinema that was held to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee in 2006 of Indian Sound Cinema at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2006.
