The Centre for the Study of
Law and Governance is an inter-disciplinary centre, engaged in an innovative
research programme through a focus on four specific areas of research, in
which it offers a doctoral (Direct PhD) programme.
The Centre welcomes
applications from scholars with MA/ MPhil degrees in Political Science,
Economics, Sociology or Law; or those with relevant administrative/legal
experience for joining its Direct PhD programme.
The first batch of 8 PhD
students was admitted in the Monsoon semester 2002.
The Centre has a distinctive
student profile in the doctoral programme, which includes members of defence and
civil services, lawyers, academics and those with civil society
organisations.
Eligibility for Admission:
Given its
inter-disciplinary orientation, the Centre welcomes applications from scholars
with M. A./ M. Phil. degrees in Political Science, Economics, Sociology or Law.
Those who do not have an M. Phil. degree should provide evidence of equivalent
published work in the intended areas of specialisation.
