(the first National Policy
Dialogue, held on 19 November 2007) in collaboration with the national
Forum for Policy Dialogue and the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New
Delhi.

'Cities in Medieval India
(1200-1800)' an
International Seminar held on 06 and 07 March 2008) in collaboration with
the Centre for Historical Studies, SSS, JNU and the Academic Staff
College, JNU.

The Fellows participated in
an International Seminar on 'Mahatma Gandhi and the Quest for a Just
Society' held on 30 & 31 January 2008 at the Nehru Memorial Museum and
Library. A dinner-get-together was held jointly with the N.M.M.L. on 31st January
2008 at the Institute to enable the Fellows to informally meet the
participants of the Seminar as well as the concerned faculty members of
the University. The get-together also provided an opportunity for the
Fellows to meet the Vice-Chancellor, Rectors and other senior members of
the University.

Greek Legacy In Medieval &
Modern India– A Workshop organized by
Dr. Vasileios Syros, Fellow of the Institute, on 14th August 2008.

In October, 2008, a month
long workshop/training programme on "Early Iconography with a
special focus on the Art and Archaeology of Central Asia and Gandhara", was conducted
in collaboration with the School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU and the
Department of Art History, Vienna University.

Library – A
Session with Graham Shaw, Head of Asia, Pacific and Africa
Collections, Penny Brook, Head of India Office Records, and others
from the British Library, organized at the Institute on 19 November 2008
from 10.30 AM to 1.00 PM.

King’s College Colloquiom was organized at the
Institute. The Speakers at the Colloquium included Prof. Richard Drayton,
Rhodes Professor of Imperial History, Dr. Jon Wilson and Dr. Nandini
Chatterjee, all from the Department of History, King’s College, London.
This was held on 19 November 2008 from 2 PM to 5 PM.

Nation-Building In Asia,
Panel No. 4 of the 20th Conference of International Association of
Historians of Asia was organized at the Institute and chaired by Prof.
Aditya Mukherjee, Director, JNIAS over three days, 15-17 November 2008.

day-long Colloquium was organized by the JNIAS in collaboration with the

Chairperson, Centre of English Studies, SLL&CS, JNU.

The Transformation
of the International Order of Asia in the 1950s and 1960s – An
Indo-Japanese Workshop was organized by the JNIAS in collaboration with
Osaka University, Japan, on 28 December 2009. The Workshop was attended
by six scholars from Japanese universities, JNIAS fellows and several
distinguished scholars from various departments of JNU. All the Japanese
scholars presented papers at the Workshop.

Orient-Occident
Interactions – A joint conference with scholars from University
of Warwick and JNIAS/JNU was held on 25 January 2010. Early this year
JNIAS had organized a meeting with the delegation from the University of
Warwick as a follow up to the MoU that had been signed between the two
universities. One of the activities that had been announced at that
meeting was a joint seminar/conference on the theme ‘Orient-Occident
Interactions’ in the hope that it will lead to a larger research
collaboration on this subject.
