Dr. Aparna Sawhney (nee GUHA)
PhD (Columbia University), Professor

Aparna Sawhney completed her Masters from the Delhi School of Economics in 1990 and her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1995.  Her publications include papers on transboundary pollution, market-based instruments, environmental public interest litigations, Indian food exports, WTO negotiations on environmental services, etc.  Her first book entitled “The New Face of Environmental Management in India” was published by Ashgate, U.K. in 2004 under their study series on Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.  

Her current research includes India’s environmental goods and services sector, and South Asian regionalism.  Prior to joining JNU, she was faculty at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.  She has written strategy/ policy papers for the Indian Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Environment and Forest, ICRIER, TERI, UNCTAD, and ICTSD.
