R. G. Gupta is a Professor in School of Computer & Systems Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University since 1 Jan 1986. He joined the School in Aug 1977 as Associate Professor. Prior to this he taught at Computer Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi for five years. He was also Vice-Chancellor of Vikram University, Ujjain (M.P.) for one term 2001-2004. He got his DIIT and PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

He has been supervising Ph.D. in Computer Science. Many students of M.Phil, M.Tech and MCA completed their projects/dissertation under his guidance. He has many publications in national and international journals.

He is senior life member of CSI, Fellow of SIS and Fellow of IETE. He was also President of SIS for two terms.
