An intellectual nerve centre, the UGC - MMTTC at the Jawaharlal Nehru University was started in the year 1989, then as an Academic Staff College with a Refresher Course in Political Science in July and Economics in August. Following the UGC Guidelines (implemented from 1st February, 2015) the University Academic Council, in its meeting held on 24.04.2015 vide resolution no. 09, considered the letter no. F-23-09/2014 dt. 2nd March 2015, and conveyed the change in name – from Academic Staff College to Human Resource Development Centre. Later, with reference to UGC letter D.O.NO. F.1-512022 (CBC/Faculties) Pt. File dt. 5th October 2023, Hon'ble Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji launched the Malaviya Mission-Teacher Training Programme (MM-TTP) on the occasion of Teachers' Day on 5th September 2023 following which, The UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, JNU was renamed to UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, JNU (MM-TTC).

 

MMTTC JNU has successfully completed 36 glorious years and has emerged as a major meeting ground of teachers in the country.

 

Drawing upon the faculty of JNU as well as other prestigious institutions in and around Delhi, the MMTTC and JNU bring to its participants the cream of Indian scholarship as resource faculty. We at MMTTCs try to make teachers realize their role in nation-building and to become the role model for the society as a whole, which no other system can provide.

 

We are focused on making an effort to provide high-quality education through specially designed orientation programs, refresher courses and short-term courses to every serving faculty.  We empower them with the updated teaching methodologies with latest developments in their core research field. The courses are designed in a way to make teachers well-equipped with the best knowledge of education, economic, socio-economic and cultural development with reference to Indian society. 


Vision of the Scheme

To build competencies in faculty for better teaching, learning, research and academic leadership by aligning them with Indian values and updating their knowledge and skills according to the needs of society and NEP 2020.


Objectives of the Scheme

The salient objectives of the scheme in alignment with NEP 2020 are:


► Achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and just society, and promoting national development.
► Improving the quality of Education at all levels by infusing quality and excellence in our Teachers, students and teaching-learning.
► To ensure holistic development of the teachers and learners with inculcation of ethics, and human values as enshrined in Indian culture and familiarize them with the Indian Knowledge System (Bharatiya Gyan Parampara.).
► To build respect for the eco-balance and biodiversity existing in nature and adopt Sustainability for life.
►  To ensure the role of faculty as active participants in institution and nation building.
► To empower Faculty members as lifelong learners through continuous professional development. 


Proposed Outcome of the Scheme  

► All Faculty members will get sensitized and oriented on NEP 2020 to make India global knowledge superpower by imparting holistic education, imbibing the ideals of Bhartiya- centric ethics and human values.
► Teachers and Learners will acquire the concept of the Indian Knowledge Systems (Bharatiya Gyan Parampara), integrate in the curriculum and apply it in real life for the advancement and creation of knowledge including in Bharatiya Languages.
► The learners will develop 21st Century skills and become reflective practitioners to innovatively generate and apply ideas respecting biodiversity and sustainability.
► The learners shall conduct quality research to solve contemporary problems through innovation and entrepreneurship.
► The learners will develop the capacity to integrate ICT tools into the learning process and become lifelong self-motivated learners.
► The faculty will contribute to institution, society and nation building.
