Prof. Jayasree Subramanian
Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, SRM University AP

Abstract: NCF2005 was accompanied by 21 National Focus Group Position Papers, one of which was on teaching of mathematics. Coming nearly two decades later, the 600 pages NCF2024 devotes 36 pages on mathematics education.  This presentation seeks to discuss how the two treat the nature of mathematical knowledge, emphasize the importance of the history of mathematics, and address the question of equity and what approaches to teaching and learning they suggest. This Talk will be organized online and the link to join is shared below.
