Abstract: There are two types of ambiguity, trivial and deep. Deep ambiguities are intrinsic to great human creations, particularly poetry and music. A scientist would like to ask whether any mathematical formalism can be found that reflects such ambiguities. It will be argued that Hilbert spaces, used extensively in quantum theory which also has deep ambiguities like wave-particle duality, provide such a formalism.
