Centre for the Study of the Americas (CSA)
The Centre for the Study of the Americas (CSA) consists of three programmes, viz, Canadian, Latin American and United States Studies. The Centre offers robust and rigorous Ph.D. programmes in all the three domains and optional courses for the Master's Programme of the School of International Studies. The faculty are engaged in teaching, research and publication, doctoral supervision, participation in conferences and seminars both within India and outside. The Centre faculty organises conferences, round tables, discussions and distinguished lectures.
The Centre follows a meticulous academic schedule and teaching methods are innovative with varied assessment methods. It promotes an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment for students by encouraging them to independently initiate and actively engage in scholarly discussions and research activities. The work of our scholars covers national and international policymaking and they are encouraged to participate in seminars and scholarly debates. Besides, there are several activities involving the students: they initiate discussions on their Ph.D. themes, organise young scholars’ seminars and participate in media programmes.
The Centre frequently invites academics, diplomats, media professionals, librarians and authors to facilitate interdisciplinary and experiential learning that helps in providing stimulus to students towards discussions on themes central to the three academic programmes. As part of its outreach to society, the faculty deliver lectures at prestigious academic institutions, defence colleges, think tanks, and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Centres across India.
