Mathematics Seminar of the School of Physical Sciences --------------------------------------------------------- Quadratic Forms and their Values Anish Ghosh (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai) Date: February 26, 2016 Abstract: I will discuss Margulis' famous proof of Oppenheim's conjecture: if Q is an indefinite irrational quadratic form in 3 or more variables n, then Q(Z^n) is dense in the real line. If time permits recent advances will be discussed. Based on joint work with A. Gorodnik and A. Nevo.
