About Us

The Energy Studies Programme in the School of International Studies (SIS) at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) aims to foster excellence in teaching and research on issues related to international and domestic energy politics and policies. With an interdisciplinary approach being one of the cardinal elements, the programme promotes the integration of academic and policy research expertise on international relations, geopolitics, economics, international law and area studies. The Energy Studies Programme began in 2014 and is still in its infancy, with one core faculty member and six adjunct faculty members from other centres with proven area expertise in energy and international relations. Experts in academic areas pertaining to international studies enrich the programme’s curriculum.

Energy Studies is a flagship program of the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Its goal is to achieve recognition as a leading institution in the global academic community by promoting excellence in teaching and research in energy. The faculty members of the programme regularly contribute to academic research and current affairs on energy. Apart from regular academic and research activities, the faculty members are involved in various media and public policy activities, both domestic and international, to facilitate better knowledge sharing and informed policy-making.
