A fair degree of competence and skill in the application of mathematical, statistical and computational frameworks has today become indispensable for pursuing advanced academic research in any discipline. Recognizing this fact, JNU has established a Mathematical and Computational Empowerment Cell (a university- level programme). The Cell works directly under the unversity's administrative control, like a facility. It is headed by a co-ordinator, who is advised by a committee of members from different schools of the university.

The M&CEC will offer courses (Basic & Advance level) on : 
(1) Mathematics
(2) Probability & Statistics 

with computational techniques including training in the use of appropriate softwares & packages for the benefit of students and faculty members of JNU, who may be interested in acquiring basic domain knowledge and skills. Depending on the requirements and interest of candidates enrolled for the courses, it may be considered to offer more advanced topics.
