Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow in a Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) funded project entitled Design and development of Novel High Gain Linearly/Circularly Polarized Wideband Antennas using Metasurface/Metamaterial for Wireless Communication”, under the supervision of Dr.Ashwani Kumar, School of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Essential Qualification: The applicant must have M.E/M Tech. in Electronics & Communication/M.Sc. Electronics or equivalent with CGPA above 7.0 (on 10.0 scale) or percentage greater than 70% aggregate. This is a minimum qualification for application. The shortlisting will be done based on the applicant's grades in M. Tech, B. Tech or equivalent degrees & their experience in relevant areas. Candidates having knowledge or experience of RF design tools (HFSS, CST, ADS etc.) are encouraged to apply.

Fellowship/Salary: As per SERB norms, fellowship is ₹31,000/- p.m. plus HRA as permissible.
Duration: 2 Years

The selected candidate will be initially appointed on a purely temporary basis for one year and renewable for the second year, subject to satisfactory performance in the first year duration of
the project.

Note:
1. All service conditions are the same as per the Office Memorandum SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30th January 2019 issued by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
2. The position is temporary and renewable each year, subject to satisfactory performance. The position is co-terminus with the project.

Applications are invited for the following purely temporary post of Junior Research Fellow in the SERB funded project entitled “Investigating gene regulatory networks operating downstream of OsAP2/ERF-40 during rice adventitious root development” at School of Computational & Integrative Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Junior Research Fellow (one post): M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum of 55% marks) in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or other related field with NET/GATE qualification. Good computer skills (Linux, Perl, Java, Python, MySQL etc.), along with proven experience in NGS data analysis, bioinformatics and/or advanced molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.

The qualification requirements and fellowship will be as per sanction in the project and/or as per SERB rules. The initial appointment may be for a period of six months or as per recommendation of the selection committee, which can be extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. The eligible candidates may further be shortlisted based on the qualification/experience depending on the total number of applications received. JNU may select candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee.

Project Title:  BIRAC (“Developing district forecast of vaccination coverage and inferring vaccine confidence across India using large public health datasets”).

JNU has established an Odia Language Chair in the name of Adikabi Sarala Das Chair of Odia Studiesin the Centre of Indian Languages, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies with the support of the Govt. of Odisha.

           Applications are invited for the following post under “Adikabi Sarala Das Chair of Odia Studies” at Centre of Indian Languages, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, JNU, New Delhi.  The appointment is purely temporary on contractual basis for a period of two (02) years:

A warm welcome to the modified and updated website of the Centre for East Asian Studies. The East Asian region has been at the forefront of several path-breaking changes since 1970s beginning with the redefining the development architecture with its State-led development model besides emerging as a major region in the global politics and a key hub of the sophisticated technologies. The Centre is one of the thirteen Centres of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi that provides a holistic understanding of the region.

Initially, established as a Centre for Chinese and Japanese Studies, it subsequently grew to include Korean Studies as well. At present there are eight faculty members in the Centre. Several distinguished faculty who have now retired include the late Prof. Gargi Dutt, Prof. P.A.N. Murthy, Prof. G.P. Deshpande, Dr. Nranarayan Das, Prof. R.R. Krishnan and Prof. K.V. Kesavan. Besides, Dr. Madhu Bhalla served at the Centre in Chinese Studies Programme during 1994-2006. In addition, Ms. Kamlesh Jain and Dr. M. M. Kunju served the Centre as the Documentation Officers in Chinese and Japanese Studies respectively.

The academic curriculum covers both modern and contemporary facets of East Asia as each scholar specializes in an area of his/her interest in the region. The integrated course involves two semesters of classes at the M. Phil programme and a dissertation for the M. Phil and a thesis for Ph. D programme respectively. The central objective is to impart an interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of history, foreign policy, government and politics, society and culture and political economy of the respective areas. Students can explore new and emerging themes such as East Asian regionalism, the evolving East Asian Community, the rise of China, resurgence of Japan and the prospects for reunification of the Korean peninsula. Additionally, the Centre lays great emphasis on the building of language skills. The background of scholars includes mostly from the social science disciplines; History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, International Relations and language.

Several students of the centre have been recipients of prestigious research fellowships awarded by Japan Foundation, Mombusho (Ministry of Education, Government of Japan), Saburo Okita Memorial Fellowship, Nippon Foundation, Korea Foundation, Nehru Memorial Fellowship, and Fellowship from the Chinese and Taiwanese Governments. Besides, students from Japan receive fellowship from the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
