School of Physical Sciences Title: Entanglement Entropy at Finite Size and Temperature Speaker: Sunil Mukhi (Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Pune) Date: April 17, 2015 Abstract: In this talk I will discuss the notion on entanglement entropy and some recent developments in the study of it in conformal quantum field theories at finite temperature and size. We address some puzzles in the computation of entanglement for free fermion field theories. An important consistency criterion called "modular invariance" will be used to constrain the result. Another criterion arising from the AdS/CFT correspondence relates entanglement to thermal entropy and we will propose answers that satisfy this criterion. The relevant concepts will be reviewed.
