Applications are invited on plain paper for the following post in an NCPOR-sponsored project, “Deciphering sediment transport pathways and provenance after 2011 Tohoku–Oki earthquake, Japan Trench ".

Essential Qualification-: Candidate should have an M.Sc. degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Geophysics/Earth Sciences/Marine Sciences/Environmental Sciences or equivalent with a good academic record and experience in geological field work/lithological/structural mapping/sample analysis. The candidate should necessarily have qualified the GATE/ CSIR/UGC-NET or equivalent exam.
Desirable Qualification: Candidates with geological fieldwork/microscopy/geochemical analysis of rocks and sediments, along with proficiency in GIS tools, in addition to the above-mentioned essential qualifications, would be preferred.
Salary: Rs. 37,000 + 30% HRA per month (OR as per DST norms).
Nature and tenure of the position: The position is purely temporary in nature and subject to the availability of funds. To undertake marine sample/data collection and detailed geological/geochemical analysis using field observations, geospatial techniques, or modelling, leading to publications. The position will be co-terminus with the remaining period of the project (i.e. approx. 20 months from May 2026). However, if the fellow’s progress is unsatisfactory, his/her services may be terminated from the project at any time.
