Applications are invited for the following positions for the ICSSR-funded project ‘Language Policy and Minority Languages in India: Comparison across States’.
Research Assistant – 1 Position
Essential qualifications
• Postgraduate in any social science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (preference will be given to applicants with an MA in linguistics and/or a Modern Foreign language)
• Solid understanding of language policy research, sociolinguistic theory, and theory of language learning/teaching
• In addition to Hindi and English, excellent knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam
• Good IT skills
Desirable qualifications:
• NET/MPhil/PhD in the relevant subject area
• Knowledge of working with big data and data based methods is particularly desirable
• Willingness to travel for research purposes
• Publications in the area of language policy is desirable
Tenure: 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027
Salary: INR 37,000/month (no other benefits or allowances are admissible)
Field Investigator – 1 Position
Essential Qualifications:
• Graduate in any relevant social science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (preference will be given to applicants with MA, and training in linguistics and/or a Modern Foreign language)
• Good understanding of language policy research, sociolinguistic theory, and theory of language learning/teaching
• Good IT skills
Desirable qualifications:
• In addition to Hindi and English, excellent knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam
• Willingness to travel for research purposes
Tenure: 1 Oct. 2026 to 31 March 2027
Salary: INR 20,000/month (no other benefits or allowances are admissible)
