Applications are invited for the position of one Senior Research Assistant (SRA) for a MeitY-funded Project entitled: “VIDYAAPATI: Bidirectional Machine Translation Involving Bengali, Konkani, Maithili, Marathi and Hindi”. Under the Project titled, “National Language Translation Mission (NLTM): BHASHINI” " (Project Ref: PAC/SSIS/GNJ/MeitY/1568) at School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, JNU. The selected candidate will be appointed purely on temporary basis, initially for six months that may be extended based on the performance till the completion of the project.

1) M.A. in Language OR
2) M.A. in Linguistics OR
3) M.Phil. or Ph.D. in Language OR
4) M.Phil. or Ph.D. in Linguistics
with courses of computational linguistics or
with specialisation in Computational Linguistics
Desirable Qualification
(a) Experience in translation
(b) Experience in data annotation,
(c) Experience in machine translation evaluation
(d) Exposure in programming will be a significant advantage
Salary: 60,000/- pm (consolidated)
Age: Maximum 40 years

Initially the post would be for 06 months. The performance of the selected/ appointed staff member shall be assessed before expiry of the contract and only those found suitable will be offered extension after the completion of 06 months.
