Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work in the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) funded research project No. CRG/2019/005749Investigation of quantum effects in lossy waveguide arrays under the supervision of Dr. Amit Rai, Associate Professor, School of Physical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067.

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Physics and qualified GATE or National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC-NET including lectureship (Assistant professorship). Valid NET/GATE is essential for JRF position.  

Desirable Qualifications: The applicant must be having good computational and analytical skill.

Salary: Rs. 31000/- + HRA per month, as per norms of the funding agency

Duration: Up to December 2022. Likely to be extended.

Applications are invited from sincere, motivated and hardworking individuals for a post in DST, India funded Project entitled: " Invading Nucleosome: Understanding How Cells Recruit Proteins at Target DNA Sites (Reference Number: CRG/2019/001001)''. The selected candidate will be appointed purely on temporary basis, initially for six months as a JRF that may be extended further based on candidate’s performance.

Position: Junior Research Fellow(1)
Qualifications & Experience:
Candidate must have a consistently good academic record with high motivation for research.

Academic Background: M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biophysics or allied subjects.

Desirable: Proficiency in computer programming, and analytical techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience of more than one year.

Salary: Consolidated Rs. 31,000 per month for JRF period and Rs. 35,000 per month for SRF period.

RECRUITMENT OF CONSULTANT RESEARCH ASSISTANT (PRE-PHD LEVEL)

Transdisciplinary Research Cluster on Frugality Studies (TRCFS) of JNU has its inception in 2020. This is an Academic Cluster on Frugality studies. This cluster is aimed at studying Frugality in technological development, products and processes in organizations and societies, identifying the concerned regulatory, ethical, funding and governance issues of Frugal Innovation. The Cluster has already undertaken two research projects. The Cluster consists of Faculty members of various Universities who are from different transdisciplinary social science backgrounds ranging from Economics, Policy, Sustainability & Governance, Law and Ethics. The Cluster would also like to take the services of a Consultant Researcher from biodiversity conservation/environmental governance background to assist in the research project focusing on the role of frugal innovations in biodiversity conservation governance.

Position: Consultant Research Assistant @TRCFS-JNU

The contract will be for a period of one year and renewal of the contract will be carried out with the recommendation of the Coordinator, TRCFS.

Compensation Package: The Consultant shall receive a monthly stipend of Rs 30,000/-(consolidated)

Eligibility:

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications: A Masters degree in environmental science/management, wild-life studies, biodiversity conservation or related areas from a reputed University/Institute (The Degree must have awarded between 2017 and 2020).
  • Work experience/exposure in the field of Frugal Innovation and/or biodiversity conservation governance.

 

Job Description:

  • Assist the faculty members in liaising with administrative departments and organizations involved with frugal innovation.
  • Assist the Cluster members in research work, field visits, data analysis.
  • Assist in exploring funding and collaboration opportunities for TRCFS.
  • The Engagement will be for a period of One year and renewal of engagement will be carried out with the recommendation by the concerned faculty member.

•    A Candidate must have minimum 02 (Two) years of experience as Computer Operator.

Duties: To assist all the projects undertaken by the Odia Chair and duties  assigned by the chair professor on time to time.

A warm welcome to the modified and updated website of the Centre for East Asian Studies. The East Asian region has been at the forefront of several path-breaking changes since 1970s beginning with the redefining the development architecture with its State-led development model besides emerging as a major region in the global politics and a key hub of the sophisticated technologies. The Centre is one of the thirteen Centres of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi that provides a holistic understanding of the region.

Initially, established as a Centre for Chinese and Japanese Studies, it subsequently grew to include Korean Studies as well. At present there are eight faculty members in the Centre. Several distinguished faculty who have now retired include the late Prof. Gargi Dutt, Prof. P.A.N. Murthy, Prof. G.P. Deshpande, Dr. Nranarayan Das, Prof. R.R. Krishnan and Prof. K.V. Kesavan. Besides, Dr. Madhu Bhalla served at the Centre in Chinese Studies Programme during 1994-2006. In addition, Ms. Kamlesh Jain and Dr. M. M. Kunju served the Centre as the Documentation Officers in Chinese and Japanese Studies respectively.

The academic curriculum covers both modern and contemporary facets of East Asia as each scholar specializes in an area of his/her interest in the region. The integrated course involves two semesters of classes at the M. Phil programme and a dissertation for the M. Phil and a thesis for Ph. D programme respectively. The central objective is to impart an interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of history, foreign policy, government and politics, society and culture and political economy of the respective areas. Students can explore new and emerging themes such as East Asian regionalism, the evolving East Asian Community, the rise of China, resurgence of Japan and the prospects for reunification of the Korean peninsula. Additionally, the Centre lays great emphasis on the building of language skills. The background of scholars includes mostly from the social science disciplines; History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, International Relations and language.

Several students of the centre have been recipients of prestigious research fellowships awarded by Japan Foundation, Mombusho (Ministry of Education, Government of Japan), Saburo Okita Memorial Fellowship, Nippon Foundation, Korea Foundation, Nehru Memorial Fellowship, and Fellowship from the Chinese and Taiwanese Governments. Besides, students from Japan receive fellowship from the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
